Department of Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine)

The Department of Kayachikitsa deals mainly with the diseases pertaining to nervous system, musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, gastrointestinal system, endocrine system, urogenital system and skin are managed efficiently.

Kayachikitsa is a specialty among eight branches of Ayurveda that deals with different systemic illnesses affecting the young and old. In ancient times, the practice of Ayurveda comprised of two schools i.e. medicine and surgery.

Departments imparts training in the division of General Medicine in Ayurveda. Kayachikitsa, representing the school of medicine forms the basis for all other branches of Ayurvedic treatment and hence this department lays the foundation for shaping a skilled Ayurvedic physician.

The entire Ayurved therapeutics is based on the concept of Kaya (Agni), which is unique and is responsible for bio-transformation. This clinical department serve the humanity by promotion of health, rejuvenation and longevity.

Training in this branch of Ayurvedic medicine equips the student to design a treatment protocol comprising of a range of internal and external medications as well as specialised therapies according to the nature of the disease and the patient. Ayurveda offers effective treatment for the management and control of chronic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriasis, eczema, bronchial asthma, paralysis, early
stages of diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, urinary tract infections and certain chronic infections.

Another unique aspect of kayachikitsa is Rasayana (Rejuvenation) and Vajikaran (Aphrodisiac) Rasayan chikitsa is useful for promotion of health and curing enhances the sexual vigour and useful to procreate an ideal Progeny.

The role of mind in the causation and cure of diseases is well recognized in kayachikitsa, hence due importance is given to strict mental discipline and adherence to moral values. For the same postment of manasroga is described in kayachikitsa
